The world has invented a new and great way to overcome most of the L2 problems in learning the foreign language. WEB2 is the answer of many issues proposed by the education experts. It can provide a conducive learning environment, for example by blogging. Through a blog (learner journal), student can increase their ability and confidence in learning second language. In fact, it is very helpful in supporting L2 learner autonomy.

The blog is one of the example of Web2 that help the learners to learn. The blog also exposes language learners to reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It is very complete for us as the learners. Why? because, we can improve our four skills by using blog. It is also very fun and interesting if we realize that there are many interesting thing inside the blog. The blog also reinforce traditional teaching practices instead of exploring new approaches to learning. So, if we have explored the blog or everything that help learners like this, we have walked in the right way. Don't return, focus on your steps, and you will feel the benefits.
ReplyDeleteFahmi, did u try the "link from rapidshare"?? If u didn't, so you have to try it. Wait for a while because it usually takes several times for the loading process (do not give any response until the options are showed up) and then u may have 2 options, take the free account . Then you have to wait until the countdown timer is running out (60 seconds). After that, just click "download now" (the size of the file is 583,73KB so you don't need too much time for downloading). If it doesn't work well, try at another PC or at least restart it. Let you try. :D

When we talk about blog, we will talk about writing or posting, telling some important information for others, and discussing through it. Using blog for our teaching is really effective in order to keep in touch all students. Why? Sometimes, we teacher only focus on some students who are active in class. Some other students who are ashamed or not really brave to discuss or convey their opinion, become apathetic. They are not confident to do it because they are afraid of facing us and their friend while conveying their ideas. They are too afraid to make some gramatical mistakes. By using blog, they can dicrease all that matters. Through blog, they don’t have to face their friends and their teachers while writing their opinions. They can correct their writing before they send it. Blog is really useful for students who have this problem. As the results, we teacher can see all competences of our students, not only students who are active in class but also the others. We can support them who are deactive to become more passionate with our second language subject.

I think WEB2 is a great invention to increase our knowledge about everything in the world. Through blog we can share and seek everything that we want. By one click, we can upload and download whatever we want. Blog also can increase our confidence to publish our creation to the world. Through blog, people can give comment to our post that can be our references to make a better post (essay, video, etc.). With its attractive features, blog also become a favorite media to learn. I think WEB2 especially blog is the great way for the Teaching and Learning process. So, be brave, be creative, and learn on the fun way!^^

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Andreas that Web2 (in our case is blog) help the learners so much in learning. Trough the blog, each of us can get and share everything without constrained by time or distance. I am very confident to say that blog allow each type of learner to express their thought by writing and also reading. This type of Web2 presents many chances for every learners to get many various ways of learning because by blogging it's possible for them to use almost of new technologies such us video clips, pictures, audios and so on. Blog also provides a great space for discussing every material or current issues. In brief, this Web2 facility (blog-learner journal) surely capable in increasing and enriching learner's motivation, especially in their second language (English).

So, how about blog can help them to be a confident person in facing others directly, for instance in class. Sometimes, of course the teacher will ask about his or her responsible for his or her writing in the blog. I mean, can blog help not-confident learners to get their confidence in facing others?
ReplyDeleteandreas, i agree with your opinion that blog helps students to improve four skills in English. through blog we can explore some new materials to support our learning process. but did you think about any possibilities? i mean, we can't deny that many students might be interested more to other things such as facebook, twitter, online game and many more. furthermore, the content of blog must be in English. it's quite hard for student to understand the content. i think we have to concern to the posibility that not all of the students get the main purpose on blogging learning. so, we have to be more creative on teaching. blog will be a good media on learning, only if we could make it appropriate for our students.

ReplyDeletei think nanda means that blog is very useful for unconfident students. why ? as we know there are some students that have a difficulty to speak or perform in front of public. on this case, blog enables them to explore their ideas freely without perform in front of class. it doesn't mean that blog could help not-confident student to get thier confidence in facing others. blog just as a media for students to spread out their ideas.
Guys, most of your comments talk about confidence, getting matterial, sharing ideas or informations and so on. Actually I agree with those. Blog is one of the example of Web2 which helps the learners to learn with those who have some weaknesses or strengths. Those who have weaknesses can use blog to learn in order to support their learning process. Conversely, those who have strengths can explore their talent and increasing it in their learning process.

But I think if students want to learn english, they have to accustom theirselves with english, including using it or read it in the blog. Like what have been discussed above, we talk much about confidence, getting material, sharing ideas or information. I think the most important think is we can can increase our ability in the term of technology. I like the topic of our ICT subject for this semester because Blogs are the simplest from of having websites. It can be also said as the base of a website. It helps us to fulfill our dreams of having our own websites. Where Blogs are easy to create and maintain. It’s also kind of search engine friendly that gives us unlimited space to make as much number of posts as we like in our blogs. It may be thousand or million blog can support it all. Besides this Blog hosts are for free, this is the important think of blog that we like. Blog is one of the media that we use to support us as a learner to learn.It is facilitating about information sharing. as the opinions before, i agree that blog giving advantage for us to improve ability. we can improve writing skill and critical thinking. I just want to add something, Blog has a lot of utilities, for instances, to build our knowledge and also for self determination, Blogs are web-based online logbooks (web logs), multiple providers (e.g Blogger, wordpress, Live Journal). Blog is easy to be created. Blog also one of the media that can help language learners develops their skills, such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking. For reading is, by join to the group journal following the news that many members write about something, as a learner we can try to read their posting articles, so we increase our reading. And for the writing, we can give some comments for them who posted something. It is easy for member to comment, it can make writing skill improve, with auto spell-check it is auto correct our writings, if we type wrong structures or words. And for the other benefits are for listening and speaking, blog providers support multimedia formats and enable audioblogging (via recorded mp3 recording of mobile phone) or we can put some links in it, so it is likely the easy way. But there are some problems also in using blog for determination with L2 journals. Such as internet connection that always is needed for access. For Ani's opinion that if Mr. Urai didn't force us to discuss, up date our blogs, write articles some of us will be just keep passive and after passing this ICT2 subject we will not keep continue to write in our blog. But, i think that there are some weaknesses learning by blog. The biggest problem is maybe there is only a few people know that our blog on internet is exist if we as an owner of the blog didn't make publication about our blog itself. Maybe for the students of our class in TL-ICT 2 know about our blog. but how about the people outside? That's a big question.
On the other hand, honestly the students maybe don't have a blog if they don't join this class. Creating a blog in this blog can be a beginning where we start learning by blog. And it is better to us after this class end at the end of the semester, we continue our blog and explore more about everything.

After I read this article I have little bit difficulties to understand the whole content of this article, but based on my understanding about this article, I would like to share my opinion about it. This article talks about the use of Blog as a new media in learning process. Blog as a media to attract the student’s interest to learn, because they can blogging like write daily diary where they can share everything that appears in our mind. Beside that, we can use blog as a social networking like facebook, YouTube, and also friendster. Blogs have the potential to support a person’s need for relatedness as they allow the blogger to create a personal space in a social network in which they can express issues that are important to them. Web 2.0 has a good promise to inform new ways of language learning. As we know, we are in globalization now, so we have to think globally and doing many things globally by using technologies. In my opinion based on this chapter using blog in learning language it’s kind of interesting way in improving our learning because of several reasons. First, students can enhance their learning based on how theirs way in learning. They can improve their learning with their own creativity, but teacher also can control the students learning. Another reason, learning with blog makes you learn easy and more enjoyable. That is easy because you can learn four skills in one media, you also can improve your language with share your video with other students than use the target language (English). There are a lot of advantages using blog in teaching learning activities. One of them is students easily share their ideas and information to the others. Maybe, in the class they are ashamed or afraid to convey their opinion but using blog they can be braver because they have time to think what they want to say or write without be afraid if they right or wrong because they are able to review what they write.

ReplyDeleteFor me, Learning through blog is very comfortable. We can write with this media, without any problem. We can write any subjects, which we want. It is possible for people whenever, wherever they want to read our writing, see the videos, which they can access with easily. These days many people using blog as a way to introduce their world in writing. Blogging is same as traditional diary writing. The teacher also use blog format in the classroom. The teacher and the students can create their own blog and leave comments in their blogs. We can choose our blog as a personal blog or for public blog. Some people famous because their blog, and publish their work into a book. Blog really help me in my writing skill. Finally, I hope in the future either in real world or in classroom blog can has more advantages for education.ERLINDA

The learning autonomy issue inside of this research article is really interesting for me to be more dig it deeper inside. Yes, I agree that the self actualization toward the important of learning is playing as the first role in the strength of learning motivation inside the learner (insider motivation). By realizing the reason why it is important for us to be knowledgeable with any kind of information and science, this situation furthermore will help us in our life although we realize it or not. Every single and simple thing that we achieve everyday from acquiring and learning from the environment and surrounding will help us to choose the way we think, say, and act.
ReplyDeleteRelated to blogging, the issue of the learning autonomy is also appropriate one another. In making a blog, the learner will automatically choose their own style to manage their blog to deliver massage and information (sharing mode) in an interesting way appropriate with their style. Although the autonomous of idea is mostly appear in this blog, the learners are still need a guideline from the lecturer to stimulate and call their creativity in an appropriate way, of course (fit with the goal and standard given by the lecturer from the very beginning of the lesson). In conclusion, as a teacher going to be it is good for the learners today to use blog as a place to learn and advance their mastery which then also learn how to monitor the student’s blog activity so that this technique can be implemented then.

Blog is one of the media of learning that can help us to improve our skill in using technology. I agree with you all that the blogs that our group created helps us to explore our ability in using technology. I do agree with Ani that maybe we will not keep continue to write on our blogs when we still don't realize the importance of learning by blog. Actually Mr. Urai has given us a free way of learning and he also facilitates us through this blog and our blogs. The way of this kind of learning really take a big attention of the teacher, it means that the teacher should work in 24 hours. I appreciate well for what he did.
