ReplyDeleteUsing internet gives some benefits for me. The first think is because internet is accessible whenever and wherever I want. It helps me to organize the schedule to learn. Moreover, the flexibility of internet gives me an opportunity to discuss the material with my friend freely without bothering others. It may not happen in the classroom. But I wouldn't neglect classroom activity. Meeting in real classroom also needed, especially to get some guidance and feedback from teacher. It also maintains my relationship with my friends.
I concern with the advancement of technology. I believe that technology was created to help people in their daily live. But we should be wise to decide which one is appropriate with our need. We need to control ourselves, so we will not controlled by the technology it self.

According to what Harashim et al said, I do believe that the flexible learning environment is happened on us. The learning process can be in the situation of formal and informal circumstances. For instance, our ICT class is combined by face-to-face and virtual. The stress of the class is on our skill of using technology of Internet. Internet helps us to have a broad access of information. We as the network learner will be the active participant because we can do access whenever and wherever we want during the connecting media are available. The comments that we wrote in this blog also show us that we are connected in to share our opinion about this article, our link access becomes wider. Yup, you are right. At first, technology was created to support TL process, but practically, many of us misuse it. We prefer to manage this connectivity as a social network. We do not consider about "what the creator main purpose when he/she create this facility".

ReplyDeleteIn my understanding, the net generation here means people, especially students, who utilize technology to support their study because of changing education and learning into networked and mobile settings design. Harasim stated there has been significant change is in the social character of students’ engagements with networked technologies and the integration of the mobile phone, social networking and other social technologies into the everyday fabric of students’ life. This situation affects the way student study that they are more familiar with the technology. Moreover, they realize the use of the technology. Therefore, these situations, What time it is, What they are doing, Where they are, Who they are with, How they feel about it, do not hamper the students to study by using the technology. in other words technology provides flexibility learning.This happens to me, i needn't be worry about time and place or location, i still can access internet to study.

well guys,, I do agree with your opinion that net generation and digital native are interrelated. net generation is a generation which have know and use technology for their activity and learning. and now, technology itself has integrated in students' social life and leisure. then, digital native is people who was born in technology era, and they interact to each other by technology. maybe net generation and digital native look like less in social interaction, but that is wrong. they do interaction to the other by using technology, and now technology even has provided skype as a way to interact face to face with the others. I think net generation and digital native have their own way in learning that cannot be equated with the old learning. with technology, students can learn not only in class, but also everywhere and every time (flexible) as long as the technology that they need is provided.

ReplyDeleteWe should be careful when we talk about internet. It not only has a positive side, but also negative. So that, we should realize before we imprisoned by it. We as a net generation should limit ourselves when we use it. Use it when we really really need to use it. Not only for us, but also for they who are the digital native. We are together should be wise to use it.
For education, internet is very useful and simplify ours. We don't need to find a book in a library, we don't need to meet our lecturer everyday, and we don't need to stress when we must send a important thing at midnight.

Net Generation is us, who use the internet for every single activity, such as learning. From internet we can learn everything, because it provides millions of data. I totally agree with Andreas who said that there are always positive and negative impacts from the internet. It depends on us, the net generation whether use it for good or bad thing. The experts still do some efforts for minimizing the bad impact of the internet and actually we still need lecturers as a guidance in learning process even when we talk about e-learning. However, internet is very useful for us, moreover it gives us a flexibility of environment in learning. We have a wider learning environment which can be used wisely, and I have been using it. Trust me, it is really great when you realize that you can learn anything wherever and whenever you want, and get the data of every space and time on the whole of the world.

They live and used to using the digital or technology tools even when no one teaches them how to use the tools. People who are digital native have a high degree of integration of networked and digital technologies in all aspects of their lives and for both study and social purposes.
Network learners have flexible learning environment. How this happens to me is that network can help me to look for the materials for my study or assignments and interact with my friends in social networks at the same time. Well, the research did by Harasim is very interesting. It show us that the net generation. as what have said that " Students reported that access to university computers remained important by their disagreement with the statement ‘I don’t rely on the use of computers at university’" page 9. it show that the function of computer, in this case netbook and internet are very important to our college's life. it make us easier in doing homework. But, on the other hand, these chance could also make a net generations being lazy because of the easyness in getting the source, they tend to did plagiarism. So the teacher's role are very important to keep them on the track.

In my opinion, the use of physical and virtual space to learn is very important. It is because the space and time limitation could be decrease until zero. But, the problem of this advantages is the lack of motivation from the student. As we know, the students now could learn by themselves at the home, but mostly, most of them would prefer to play outside with their friends or just social networking. Most of student just learn or do their homework when deadline times are getting closer.

Hmm... I think there's an interrelation between Net Generation and Digital Natives. We’re net generation now, we can't live without technology (Especially for English department in UNTAN, hehe). Assignments, materials, e-mail, they are some primary things that can't be separated from us. i want to add some from mega's opinion, We are not only live in computer-based technology, but more than it, we are internet generation who live in the circle of networking of the world. it influences the way we think and the way we react. It bores a lot of digital native who are accustomed to use technology to use technology and can explore it autodidact and use the technology in every part of their live.

technology is very important for us,, and we always use it everyday,,for example is internet,, most if us use it every day,,such as for searching the material, discuss on ontell, and for updating our blog, without internet, we can't do all of them, that why internet is very important for us, beside that, we must careful to use it, because if we aren't use it carefully, we can get bad benefit from it, so, we must use it carefully to get benefits from it.

Yaps as we know that almost of people can't work easily without technology. They need technologies to help their business. I am totally agreed with Mega's opinion who said that Net generation is a generation who is grown up in computer-based-technology. It means that the generation which is using the technology in all aspects of their life, and if we talk about Native Digital, it means that we talk about people who use and understand how to apply the technologies well. They are Net Generation who do activities which is helped by technology wherever and whenever they are. Therefore there is an interrelation between Net generation and Native Digital.

I agree with some of my friend’s opinions. I think Net generation is the generations that use technology in their daily activity; well it is for learning, working, or social interactions. They very enjoyable to use technology wherever (study bedroom or public area), whenever (24 hours), with whom (can be just alone or with friend that use Skype), and they also can use many technology like mobile phone or access in internet. I think today we also net generation “if we are enjoyable learn with technology,” we can learn or do assignments wherever we want with access in internet by laptop or mobile phone. Beside that, I think this technology will always develop, maybe it can be faster than what we can think. It can be something dangerous for young generation if they can’t use it wisely. So, being Network learners or Net generation is not be a problem if they can use it well and wisely.

No body can deny the demand of globalization era. This condition force all of us to stick around with digital things in many aspect of life. In study we now familiar to sent our assignments to the lecturers via email. When we want to do our assignments and even when we want to find reference for our thesis we use internet as one of main source.In another part of our life such as for hobby, to communicate with people we now prefer to use social network sites from facebook,twitter till skype.It is showing that now we are the net generation just like ira said on her comment we can’t life without technology. Around us, everywhere, Mobile and Net Technology become a requirement that everyone used for urgent thing or even just for chatting.
The user of mobile and net technology is not just adult anymore, but young generation used it also, in fact we can see in Net shop, many children used net technology even they just used it for playing a online game.
In some fields, Mobile and Net Technology used because it is needed, for example, network learning. Network learning offers an easiest way to study for people who can't access the country where the university exist, at list the quality of the education is guaranteed. in other hand, people used mobile and net technology for operate their business. mobile and net technology give them an offers to give huge profit, businessman only need laptop/notebook and wireless or modem network and they can perform their business, and they persuade the product through social network such as face book or tweeter.
Mobile and Net Technology can offers easiest way to us, but it doesn't means that we can use then in bad way, for example plagiarism, many people create them own just copy and paste from some source, so it is not acceptable. Used good thing in a good way is totally suggested.

Then you belong to the Net Generation. so, the net generation here means people who have been manipulating mouses since an early age. they are has access to video games, the Internet, e-mail, instant messaging, online communities, and videos and music that can be downloaded over a computer. All the ways we said about those are true, there are many benefits and also bad effect from technology, for specific is Networks. The generation of internet from time to time has changed, every second the experts or discoverers found the newest thing in technology. It will bring the newest effect too to the next generation and it also requires some aspects to be fulfilled, it is Internet connection. For example, in aspect of education, from conventional to new millennium era, technology flows through the systems of education. It makes the purposes of learning changes also. Nowadays as a research from article, education and learning move into networked and mobile settings design, learning digital will be focused. Formal meetings with staff and other students like conventional era were rare to do.
And if we talk about the relation between net generation and digital natives, yes it is interrelated. I agree with other people who said it integrates each other. I think there is different between net generation and digital natives. Net generation is people who are growing up with the internet facility and they exploit the technologies for their needs, for example I myself, I am in one side is net generation who always depend on the internet facility, because I have to use Internet when I need to use it. While I’m getting assignments, I have easy ways to do it by using internet, but if I do not have internet connection I still can do my assignments by looking at the library. And net generation also uses for make an interaction with other people by using network such as Facebook, Twitter and Blog, they communicate by using the technologies. But digital natives is like people who live with technologies, the requirements of technology is not just for help do something. It is more like how people life with technologies, technologies is their part of life. They can not do something without technologies beside them, they very depend on the technology itself.

Net Generation and Digital Natives It means that learners have their changes in learning. They can use technology to learn. Learning by using internet can help the learners learn easily. Internet provides opportunities for learners to learn in alternative and challenging ways, using a wide range of sources of information. Older people begin to try and join us on the inside. They also make up their accounts, they began jamming-twit. Our reaction: there is a surprise, there are so "jaim", there is that makes fake accounts, etc. Even a dedicated website containing contents cuteness the old people. Without realizing it, one day we hand over the baton this to our children as the next net generations.

In my opinion The Net Generation is the cohort of young people born between 1982 and 1991 who have grown up in an environment in which they are constantly exposed to computer-based technology. It has been suggested that their methods of learning are different from those of previous generations. In a survey of first-year undergraduate students, I found that a large majority started university with experience of using online systems such as blogs and wikis; furthermore, their attitudes to the possible use of such tools in learning were positive. The development of information and technology nowadays does not reflect the impact of widely independent learning in widely spread of any kind of information as it was expected from the prior issue appeared along with the growth of technology. This variation then knowing as the cause of the problem where a place will have different need and dependency about technology related to how far or how strong the place will be influenced by the technology itself. For example, the local school which is located merely far from the city will have a little portion of widely technology need rather than school which is located in the central of the city. Widely, this problem is not traditionally caused by the belief and need of those two different schools itself but then also because the close exposure of technology need will make interaction towards ICT as a habit or common activity rather than the local place.
From my point of view, from some people especially for the local school area which is far from the city there is such kind of belief that technology sometimes and somewhat makes an additional problem toward teaching learning process because the media is dependent with the electricity, time consuming for the material and media preparation, and also little expensive rather than traditional media use for teaching learning process in the classroom. I also agree with this thought because this problem is widely seen in my hometown but one thing that triggers those following problem is about the lack of knowledge of technology itself. The contribution of technology use in teaching learning mostly agreed as a very helping way to attract student attention in case of up-to-date material, interesting appearance or display, and simulation and play toward related video or game, but because of they do not know about the way to operate the media so that this widely benefit changes to be widely matter. In solving this problem I believe that making the learner to closely exposure by the communication and information technology is the best way to make this to be their need and daily activity everyday. At the end, for an addition, the strong and simultaneously motivation toward the important of technology for the learners especially for the beginner will contribute a good impact after all.. :-)

Internet as one of the technology so helpful for us as a students. Using internet will help us to learn for those 4 skill in language learning. We can access internet anywhere we want to improve our study and with internet we will have flexible learning environments.

Well, Harasim et al. said that "Network learner of the future will have access to of their choice, wherever they are located, whenever they are able to participate. The Network learner will be an active participant, learning with and from experts and peers wherever they are located". I think this happens to me. I can get access many information wherever I want. Network makes our communication seems easy and more flexible to get formal and informal education. But, there are positive effect and negative effect from technology. It depends on the user; the people whether uses it for good or bad thing or activity.
ReplyDeleteWe are the Net Generation because we uses this technology (internet) in our daily life.Such as to learn, and to interact with other people and digital native is a young person who was born during or after the general introduction of digital technology, and through interacting with digital technology from an early age, has a greater understanding of its concepts.

As the net generations Internet becomes primary need from all ages. We can using e-learning as one of example how to learn. The process for learning more unique and different. We can shared anything just using one click. I mean here everything become easier when we can use internet for daily life. But, when there are have so many advantages there’s also have the disadvantages, so that we can selective when we use technology in our life especially for learning process.
